The public forum scenes have aged so well. When I first watched the show I thought they were exaggerated for comedic effect, but now they seem pretty tame compared to reality.
It’s not that people hate facts and science.
They hate facts and science that disagrees with their pre established beliefs.
They will happy spout whatever half truths that support their arguments but they will firmly reject anything that doesn’t.
This is hating facts and science but with excuses.
